International Union of Crystallography, also known as IUCR is a global body for scientific research and innovation related to crystallography. This organization came into existence in the year 1947 as medium of communication between crystallographers from across the world in order to give shape to more advanced collaborative projects in the field. Aimed at promoting crystallographic research worldwide, this nonprofit organization strives to assist in standardizing methods, units, nomenclatures and symbols and to explore the application of crystallography in other sciences. Based in UK, this organization is currently under the leadership of its President, Professor S. Larsen. In keeping with its objectives, IUCR also conducts various workshops, seminars and conferences. The IUCr Congress is one of its most awaited conferences scheduled to be held shortly.
