American Astronomical Society is nonprofit association that was established in the year 1899 to represent the qualified astronomers of USA. The primary aim of the organization is to provide the professional astronomers with a platform where they can discuss, share and comprehend the different aspects of the Cosmos. The acronym of the organization is AAS. It is headquartered in Washington DC in USA. The managerial aspect of this nonprofit organization is looked after by a Council of the society. David J, Helfand has been elected as the President of the Council for the period of 2012 to 2014. The organization hosts many well conducted events all round the year to provide its member with the ideal platform for networking. The 221st Meeting of the American Astronomical Society will be hosted by the organization in the month of January 2013.
